Pastor's Thoughts

One Day at a Time

Phil 1:6

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

This may sum up our lives in reflection of another passing year:

When I was a child, I laughed and wept,
Time crept;
When as a youth, I dreamed and talked,
Time walked;
When I became a full grown man,
Time ran;
When older still I daily grew,
Time flew;
Soon I shall be traveling on,
Time gone.

As time rolls on may we consider our strength and confidence. They certainly are not in my ideas for the future. I don’t even acquiesce to half of the resolutions I have made this year, much less have strength and confidence in myself to keep them. The point is, let the Holy Spirit work in you DAILY to accomplish all that God wants to in you this next year. That alone will be your strength and confidence for each day’s success as well as failure.
Please remember that the completed work does not appear all at once. It takes time. One day at a time to be exact. Don’t let that worry you. The good work God started in you at the time of salvation, He will complete in you when Christ returns. Just let Him work on you. He’s still working on me.
